  • 25 – 26 July (Saint-Anne d’Auray)rnGrand Pardon of Saint-Anne d’AurayrnThe largest religious pilgrimage in the region. The story of St. Anne d’Auray begun in the seventeenth century by the appearance of Saint Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary, in Yves Nicolazic, a pious peasant village. At the time, Sainte-Anne d’Auray was a hamlet named Ker Anna, the “village of Anne” in Breton. During an appearance, she asks him to rebuild the chapel that was dedicated to her in the sixth century. The news spread throughout Britany and the pilgrims set off to Sainte-Anne, giving birth to the largest pilgrimage in the region. In the 19th century, the crowd thought that the chapel was too small. To solve this, the architect Deperthes built the (basilica >= 1865 AND basilica <= 1872.
